The Arthur Ashe Endowment for the Defeat of AIDS, established in 1995 within the Department of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City, focuses on the areas which Arthur Ashe thought were most important – AIDS education and awareness and clinical training. Through the Endowment’s centerpiece effort, the International Healthcare Worker Training Program, more than 100 physicians and nurses from nearly 40 countries have been brought to New York and returned home to continue their AIDS work.
Since 1995 at the US Open, players, fans, and the tennis community have helped raise more than a million dollars to support the Endowment.
